Nantucket Holiday Happenings

The Holiday season is upon us and Nantucket has some wonderful happenings to enjoy over the next month or so. The 41st annual Christmas Stroll is just around the corner and offers many traditional activities. Nantucket Noel events occur throughout the month of December as well.

And New Years on Nantucket has become a big celebration and well worth a visit to the Island the last week of December. This years theme is Moulin Rouge so get your outfit ready and celebrate the arrival of 2015 Nantucket style!

18th Annual Boston Pops on Nantucket

On Saturday August 9th the Boston Pops Esplanade orchestra will perform with conductor Keith Lockhart, as a fundraiser on behalf of the Nantucket Cottage Hospital. The concert will be hosted by David Gregory and a special guest appearance from the Abba tribute band Arrival from Sweden. A stunning fireworks display will conclude this special Summer event … don't miss it!

Nantucket Film Festival and July 4th Activities

This week, from June 25-30, is the 19th annual Nantucket Film Festival and it appears to be bigger and better than ever with about 100 films selected for screening, up from 70 films last year. Other events include the All Star Comedy Round Table, Late Night Storytelling, Morning Coffee and Afternoon Tea Talks. In particular, the closing night film, Boyhood, seems to be generating a great deal of interest.

The 4th of July celebration on Island is fast approaching with face painting, sand painting, dunk tank, watermelon/pie eating contests, kid's parade and famous water fight on Main Street … don't miss the fun!

The Spring version of Nantucket Restaurant Week is fast approaching and will be held the week of June 2-8. This event currently has 23 of the best restaurants participating and features amazing 3 course dinners and deals for you from $25-$45.

40th Daffodil Festival and 18th Nantucket Wine Festival

We're anxiously awaiting the 40th annual Daffodil Festival April 25-27 to say "Hello Yellow" after this cold and snowy Winter. Events include the Antique Car parade, Sconset Tailgate picnic, Daffy Hat, Dog and Children's parades and more. The 18th annual Nantucket Wine festival is scheduled for May 14-18 this year and will host over 50 events at various locations on Nantucket. This year will feature more wineries from the West Coast than ever. So come to the Island and stay with us this Spring and celebrate flowers and wine, Nantucket style.

Nantucket Noel, the 40th Christmas Stroll Festival & New Years

What was originally a local shoppers stroll has evolved into a highly anticipated annual holiday festival season known as Nantucket Noel, enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. This year will mark the 40th celebration of this event, which begins the day after Thanksgiving till New Years and will include the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Community Caroling. The main event will occur December 6-8 this year including the Christmas House Tour and the Festival of Trees and the Whaling museum.

Recently, a European style Christmas Marketplace was introduced with dozens of non profits offering a variety of tasty food, hot drinks, craft merchandise sales and games. The Marketplace will be open from 10am to 3pm on Saturday December, 7th.

Finally, consider joining us for the Nantucket New Years festivities which is certainly the best way to welcome in 2014!

October Events on Island

October brings the Nantucket Arts Festival from Friday the 4th through Sunday the 13th. Featured activities include gallery exhibits, lectures at the Nantucket Atheneum, performances by the Theatre Workshop, a movie series about famous artists at the Dreamland Theater, a community outdoor art installation by NISDA and an Artisan Talk Show Series by the Nantucket Arts Council.
Also this October is the 11th annual Cranberry Festival at the Milestone cranberry bog on Saturday October 12th from 11am - 4pm. Go out to the festival grounds and see the berries being harvested, learn about farming cranberries on Nantucket, and enjoy the music and scenery amongst the bogs and spectacular conservation foundation property. So come visit us at the Seven Sea Street Inn this October!
